Underworld U.S.A. is a 1961 film noir about a man waging a one-man war against four powerful crime lords that brutally murdered his father two decades prior. Cliff Robertson plays Tolly Devlin, a man plagued by the memory of his father's violent death, an act he witnessed as a fourteen-year-old. Tolly has spent his life blending in with the criminal underworld and trying to get close to the crime lords responsible for his father's death. Tolly's quest has alienated him from the people who love him. He's become a criminal himself, even going so far as to get sent to prison to become closer to the crime bosses. When he becomes a police informant in a government effort to bust up organized crime, he becomes dangerously entrenched in the world of crime. Underworld U.S.A. is a classic film about a man whose obsession for vengeance threatens to turn him into as hideous a monster as the killers he's hunting down.
