Movie Summary

Roland Emmerich

American soldiers Luc Deveraux and Andrew Scott are killed in a skirmish during the Vietnam War. The men aren't buried, but are taken to a secret Army base and reanimated as "universal soldiers": lethal, almost immortal men impervious to pain, hunger, and fatigue. The government has enjoyed success with this program, and frequently deploys the universal soldiers to assassinate dangerous terrorists. When local reporter Veronica Roberts discovers the program, her cameraman is murdered and she becomes a target herself. At the same time, Luc Devereaux, now known as GR44, begins to individualize from his fellow soldiers and experience flashbacks of Vietnam. With only Devereaux to protect her, Veronica must find a way to outwit the human killing machines and expose the mastermind behind the program, Colonel Perry.
