Uptown Girls is a 2003 comedy film starring Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning. Molly Gunn (Brittany Murphy) is a careless, whimsical 22-year old girl without much direction in life. Molly's indirection might be attributed to the fact that her mother and father died in a terrible plan crash when she was younger. As a result, Molly inherited more than $1million dollars after her parents died, but her greedy accountant runs away with her money just after her 22nd birthday bash. That is when she decides it is time to buckle down and get a job. She finds a job as a nanny for the daughter of a very busy business woman named Roma Schleine (Heather Locklear). Ray (Dakota Fanning), Roma's daughter, is a demanding, meticulous and precocious little 6-year old girl who knows what she wants. As Molly and Ray spend more time together, they run into many conflicts. Ray cannot accept Molly's carefree spirit, and Molly has never met such an uptight 6-year-old girl before. Despite their many arguments, Molly and Ray form a strong bond as they each grow into young responsible adults. Two thumbs up!moreless
