Used Cars follows the intense rivalry of two used car dealerships as one struggles to survive a potential takeover. Rudy Russo (Kurt Russell) is an up-and-coming salesman at New Deal used car lot, owned by the affable Luke Fuchs (Jack Warden). Russo has aspirations of running for Senate and Fuchs makes him a deal. If he can keep the car lot from going under, Fuchs will invest $10,000 in his campaign. Across the street, Luke's brother Roy Fuchs (Jack Warden) has his eye on New Deal when he learns a proposed freeway would take his business. He wants to collect on his brother's life insurance and take over his business so he orchestrates an accident that exploits his brother's bad heart. Luke dies, but to keep Roy from inheriting the dealership, Rudy hides the body and sets about drumming up business for the lot. Using a series of unorthodox commercials and questionable sales tactics, Rudy and the other salesmen revive teh business. Robert Zemeckis directs the 1980 comedy.
