Valdez is Coming is a 1971 American Western film directed by Edwin Sherin and starring Burt Lancaster, Susan Clark, and Frank Silvera. The film tells the story of Bob Valdez (Lancaster), a law-abiding Marshal who prides himself on his ethics. When he is double-cross by greedy rancher Frank Tanner (Jon Cypher), he must take drastic actions to prove his innocence. Valdez kidnaps Cypher's mistress Gay Erin (Susan Clark) in hopes of making Tanner fess up to his illegalities. While at first Tanner is able to get the town on his side, they slowly begin to realize that Valdez is on the right side of the law. First, however, Valdez must defend himself against many of the men who have come to kill him. In an epic gunfight, Valdez manages to kill each of the men sent against him by Tanner. When Valdez comes face to face with Tanner, the true colors of both men are shown.
