Valhalla Rising is a 2002 film that blends historical elements with action and adventure. One Eye (Mads Mikkelsen) was once a feared and ferocious warrior, only made more intimidating by his muteness. For years, however, One Eye has been a captive. Barde (Alexander Morton) is the Norse chieftain ruthless enough to keep One Eye at bay. Barde makes use of One Eye by forcing him to battle other warriors. When One Eye finally manages to break free, he leaves a path of slaughter and vengeance in his wake. Along with a curious Norse boy, Are (Maarten Stevenson), One Eye travels from the highlands and meets a group of voyagers who are bound for a mysterious city. Eager to make a clean break from the place of his captivity, One Eye boards the ship. What One Eye and Are discover at the end of their voyage is a world even stranger and more brutal than the one they left, but also rich with excitement.moreless
