Van Halen: The Van Halen Story: The Early Years is a 2003 documentary directed by Mark Mclaughlin. This retrospective brings viewers back to the beginning of the famous rock group Van Halen and charts its rise from backyard beer filled performances to world famous band putting on stadium shows. This documentary is full of footage of the four band members and interviews with them as well as their childhood friends, roadies, producers, bodyguards, fans and musical colleagues. It is narrated by J.J Jackson. It covers all the years that David Lee Roth was in the band and focuses mainly on their club days and first world wide tour. However this documentary was not endorsed by Van Halen at all so it doesn't feature any of their songs. It does feature many never before seen photographs though as well as some interviews with Diamond Dave, Eddie and Alex Van Halen.
