Vanishing Riders is a 1935 western directed by Bob Hill. When outlaw Joe Lang (Roger Williams) is running away from Sheriff Bill Jones (Bill Cody), he accidentally dies during the pursuit. Since the sheriff feels sympathy for Joe's orphaned son Tim (Bill Cody Jr.), he decides to adopt the boy. Bill quits his job and moves away from the town of Cactus with Tim. They soon arrive at Silver City, a deserted town that is rumored to be haunted by ghosts. While they are there, they learn that the outlaw Wolf Lawson (Wally Wales) has been rustling sheep from the local ranchers and forcing them off of their land. Bill and Tim soon start working for Joan Stanley (Ethel Jackson), one of the ranchers terrorized by Wolf and his gang. When the criminals decide to take Joan hostage, Bill and Tim decide that the only way to get rid of the outlaws is to make them believe that the ghost stories about Silver City are true.moreless
