Movie Summary

Director:
Pete Travis
Released:
2007
Rating:
PG-13

Vantage Point is 2008 political-action thriller available on Netflix. The film follows eight different points of view of an assassination attempt on the President of the United States. The film only portrays events over the coarse of twenty-five minutes. Each time we switch to a new point of view, the clock rewinds and plays out the point of view. Each time a new vantage point is followed, new facts and details are added, until we finally find out who was really involved and what actually happened at the films climax. The vantage points are from television news anchor Rex Brooks (Sigourney Weaver), US Secret Service Agent Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid), an American tourist (Forest Whitaker), a Spanish police officer (Eduardo Noriega), a terrorist leader (Said Taghmaoui), a sharpshooter (Edgar Ramirez), a secret service agent (Matthew Fox), and another reporter (Zoe Saldana). Vantage Point is an action-packed, who done it, whirlwind of a film.

A 23-minute movie dragged out, via some narrative gimmickry, to a punishing hour and a half.
