1996

Vendetta, originally released in 1914 by George Kleine, was recently rereleased in 1996. While nearly a century old, Vendetta is a movie that has been rereleased in order to deliver the magic of the Victorian film era to a new generation of movie audiences. Kleine's visual adaptation of Marie Corelli's novel promises blood and thunder and helped define the pivotal period of Victorian cinema. This movie secured Kleine's place within cinema history. Vendetta holds audiences captive from the beginning by presenting a supposedly fatally ill Fabio (Jean Angelo). However, the audience soon finds that Fabio was only struck down by the deadly plague temporarily as Fabio awakens and manages to cleverly escape the family crypt. Shocked and heartbroken to find that his grieving widow had already married his best friend, Fabio vows to seek vengeance upon them both. To this purpose, Fabio assumes a new identity. The audience is taken on a fast paced, unorthodox ride as the movie details Fabio's exacting revenge.moreless
