Very Annie Mary is a sentimental British film which revolves around one woman who finally realizes her life-long dream to sing professionally as a result of several sad and peculiar circumstances. This 2001 film was written and directed by Welsh actress and film director Sara Sugarman (Mad Cows, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen). Annie Mary (Rachel Griffiths) is a 30 year old Welsh woman who lives at home with her abusive father. Her situation only worsens when he becomes bed ridden due to a stroke. She is now also tasked with running her father's business - a local bakery. As though she could handle more curve balls, Annie receives news that one of her best friends Bethan (Joanna Page) is sick with terminal illness. She becomes determined to help Bethan fulfill her dream of visiting Disneyland, so she signs up as a musical act in a local talent show. Suddenly Annie Mary is freed of all previous inhibitions and realizes her life-long dreams of singing.moreless
