Violet & Daisy

Movie Summary

Geoffrey Fletcher (I)
Not Available
Violet (Alexis Bledel, Sin City) and Daisy (Saoirse Ronan, Hanna) are a pair of gum-cracking teenage assassins who casually snuff out crime figures in New York City, distracted only by the fact that a concert by their favorite pop idol Barbie Sunday has suddenly been canceled. Determined to raise cash for a pair of Barbie Sunday dresses, the duo takes on a new hit job, only to face a reckoning in the form of a mysterious loner (James Gandolfini, The Sopranos). He catapults the hit girls into an odyssey far beyond the world of Barbie Sunday and bullets for pay. From Academy Award Winning screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious) comes a mesmerizing hybrid of New York City crime fable and powerful coming-of-age tale. In Violet and Daisy, teenage kicks match wits with adult-world turmoil, as three lost souls face their most formidable foes- themselves.

Metacritic Score

  • 70

    The Hollywood Reporter Kirk Honeycutt

It's a film that doesn't always work but when it does you almost hear an audible click. Violet & Daisy has its share of these ah-ha moments.

  • 63

    Slant Magazine

A twisted, spirited exercise in stark juxtaposition, a grindhouse fairy tale of sorts that pairs the sugary sweet with the nastily violent.

  • 50

    Variety Peter Debruge

Violet & Daisy feels radically disconnected from recognizable human behavior.
