Violets are Blue is a 1986 romantic drama directed by Jack Fisk. Augusta Sawyer (Sissy Spacek), usually known as Gussie, has enjoyed a successful career and made an international name for herself as a talented photographer. After spending 15 years on the move, Gussie decides to return to Ocean City, Maryland, the resort town of her childhood upbringing. Even though she has won so many awards and seen so many exotic sights, Gussie finds that returning to Ocean City is a challenge. Gussie never found the right soul mate and still has fond memories of her high school boyfriend. She soon runs into her old flame, Henry (Kevin Kline). He has not become famous or jetted around the globe, but he has settled down and married Ruth (Bonnie Bedelia). Henry and Gussie reconnect, not sure how to deal with the sparks of romance that rekindle between them. Although they do not want to hurt Ruth, both of them dream of what could have been.moreless
