Vision Quest is a drama about a high school senior trying to beat a wrestler who has never lost a match. Louden Swain (Matthew Modine) is a fairly successful wrestler on his high school team. During his senior year, he decides to try and do something truly significant by dropping several weight classes in order to fight the fearsome Brian Shute (Frank Jasper). At the same time, a young woman named Carla (Linda Fiorentino) moves into a spare room in Louden's father's house. She is on her way from New Jersey to San Francisco, but stops in Louden's small town when she has car problems and needs to make some extra money. The two quickly build a strong friendship that ultimately blossoms into love. While Louden's body begins to break down as he desperately tries to drop weight, his heart begins to break as well once he realizes that a real relationship with Carla is impossible. Ultimately, he faces Shute in the championship match, knowing that his life will never be the same regardless of the outcome.moreless
