Viva Knievel! is a Gordon M. Douglas 1977 action movie starring Evel Knievel as himself, a dare-devil motorcyclist. The movie opens with Knievel sneaking into a boy's orphanage in the middle of the night. There, he delivers action figures of himself (Evel Knievel) to all the children. Surprisingly, one of the boys suddenly throws his crutches aside and begins to walk with both legs. Knievel tells the boy that if he can walk after he crashes on his bike, then so can the boy. Knievel is seemingly established as a hero so early in the film, but the plot thickens when he prepares for a stunt show in Mexico. At Knievel's side is wingman Will Atkins (Gene Kelly), a retired ex-stunt man with a serious drinking problem. The team crosses the boarder and travels down to Mexico where Knievel is scheduled to perform. What this kick-ass team doesn't realize, however, is that a clan of nasty drug dealers, led by Stanley Millard (Leslie Nielsen), is planning to kill Knievel. The drug dealers plan to use Knievel's dead body to transport drugs back into the United States. Will Knievel prove to be the hero once again? Or will Stanley and his clan be the victors in their hunt?
