Voices of Iraq is a 2004 documentary that was produced by Eric Manes and gives a unique look at the war in Iraq. To create this film, over 2,000 digital video recorders were handed out to average Iraqi people, who were asked to film their day-to-day life. These clips were put together to show viewers what the war in Iraq looked like through the eyes of the people who live there. These people have been silenced for over 25 years due to the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein and have not been able to have their voice heard or tell their side of the story. This shows a unique viewpoint that many feel has been lost throughout the war. The people talk about how their lives have changed since the fall of Hussein's regime and how the war has affected their people and their land. It also explores their hopes for themselves and their country. It also looks at how they look at America and the troops that serve there.moreless

If this film cannot claim to represent the political "truth" about the war - what film could? - it certainly provides a broad glimpse of daily life in Iraq.

With Iraqis pointing cameras at each other, the result is cheerier than might be expected.
