Waiting is an independent film that focuses on the personal and professional lives of a group of co-workers at a restaurant. Dean (Justin Long) has been a waiter since graduating from high school and has yet to obtain a college degree. He finds out that a former classmate has an engineering degree which makes Dean re-think his path in life. He is forced to make a difficult decision when he is offered the assistant manager position at the restaurant. Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) also works at the restaurant but he has come to terms with the fact he may be working there for the rest of his life. Other workers include Dan (David Koechner), the uptight manager, Naomi (Alanna Ubach) an unpleasant waitress, Raddamus (Luis Guzman) the head chef, and Dean's girlfriend, Amy (Kaitlin Doubleday). The staff spends much of their time gossiping and playing games with one another. One day after work, the co-workers head to a party thrown by Dean and Mitch. It is at this party that secrets are revealed and the staff members begin to discover their true selves.
