War of the Wildcats is a 1943 film set in the open prairie of Oklahoma. A beautiful schoolteacher named Catherine Allen (Martha Scott) comes between two rivaling men, Dan Somers (John Wayne) and Jim Gardner (Albert Dekker). They both are in love with Catherine, but only one can end up with the pretty woman. The two men rival over not only the lady, but also oil lease rights on Indian land. Dan Somers receives an offer for a lot of money if he can deliver an oil shipment by a specific time. This enrages Jim Gardner, and naturally, he does whatever he can to interrupt Dan's work. For years, the two have disliked each other and always compete to be the big man in town. In the end, the two fight it out in a climactic, old-fashioned chase scene. Albert Rogell directs this classic western also starring Dale Evans who plays Cuddles, a dance hall singer.
