Warm Water Under a Red Bridge is an unusual fantasy about a woman, Saeko (Misa Shimizu), who gushes water when in the throes of orgasm. Saiko expels so much water that it replenishes the local river and the fish grow large and plentiful. Yosuke (Koji Takusho) travels to Saeko's village in a quest for a golden Buddha an elderly philosopher Taro (Kazuo Kitamura) tells Yosuke he left in the village. When Yosuke finds the house that the old man told him about, he spies Saeko leaving and follows her. He catches her stealing some cheese from a market as a small puddle forms beneath her feet. From the puddle he retrieves an earring and returns it to her. Realizing that Yosuke has seen her steal the cheese, Saiko explains her condition: water builds up in her body and she must release it by doing something evil. Soon the two are passionately making love to the approval of the local fish, and Saiko's influence transforms Yosuke from an aimless wanderer into a celebrated ocean fisherman. This offbeat tale is directed by Japanese film legend Shohei Imamura.moreless
