Water Drops on Burning Rocks is a French drama about two men and two women grappling with sexual desire and conventional coupling. Bernard Giraudeau plays Leopold , an attractive and successful 50-year-old businessman living in 1970s Germany. Malik Zidi plays 20-year-old Franz, a bright-eyed but confused young man who allows Leopold to seduce him after drinks in Leopold's bachelor pad. Enamored with the older businessman, Franz leaves his fiancee Anna to live with Leopold. As the film progresses, Franz and Leopold's budding relationship runs into many obstacles, culminating in the return of Anna (Ludivine Sagnier) and one of Leopold's ex-lovers, Vera. The four of them struggle with their lust and desire on a quest for happiness. This film is based on a play by German playwright Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Water Drops on Burning Rocks is a tense and revealing drama about human sexuality, directed by Francois Ozon.
