Waxwork is a film about an evil wax museum and its owner who terrorizes local students. Seemingly out of the blue, a wax museum appears in a small suburban town. The owner, purported to be an evil magician, has filled the wax museum with famous monsters and serial killers. On opening night, he invites a group of young, unknowing college students to see and experience the morbid, spooky museum. Once inside, the college students encounter lots of different wax displays, such as a big, angry lumberjack murdering a passerby with his axe, a blood-thirsty vampire, circus freaks, an alien and the Marquis de Sade. The college students quickly learn that the spooky scenes and figures inside the wax museum, though seemingly innocent and fun, are more than they appear to be. As, one after another, they become trapped in the various haunting wax displays, they must find a way to escape by any means necessary.
