Way... Way Out is an American comedy from the late 1960s. It is a parody of the space race between the Russians and the Americans. In the film's universe, both the Russians and Americans currently have bases on the moon and live there, running a set of weather stations. The American astronauts aren't on the best of terms with one another. They both feel the strains of prolonged separation from other people. One, Schmidlap (Howard Morris), is sexually starved. He spends his time drawing lewd pictures of naked women. The other, Hoffman (Dennis Weaver), has become violent and confrontational. The president of NAWA, the agency behind the funding for the American base, decides that these two men will hurt NAWA's public image. He makes a plan to replace them with a proper married couple. Unfortunately, the only eligible man, Peter Mattemore (Jerry Lewis), is currently single. The president of NAWA gives him three days to get married, or he will never get another chance to go up into space.moreless
