We Are Wizards, a documentary directed by Josh Koury, follows different subjects, each of whom expresses their fandom of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series through creative endeavors. The primary story arcs follow several different bands, such as the "Hungarian Horntails" and "Draco and the Malfoys," who make up the "Wizard Rock" music scene, which features alternative music and lyrics inspired by the Harry Potter world. Also featured is a fan, Ms. Heather Lawver, who created a fansite on the web and eventually organized a boycott of Warner Bros., the owner of the Harry Potter franchise, over intellectual property disputes and practices. Interspersed throughout the movie are interviews with other individuals. MIT Professor Henry Jenkins, who specializes in media studies, discusses the societal phenomenon of fandom. Christian fundamentalist and activist Caryl Matrisciana is also featured; she provides a counterpoint to the fandom by discussing why she believes Harry Potter is a dangerous influence.
