Werewolf Hunter, AKA Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt, is a 2004 action horror film directed by Paco Plaza. Mutilated bodies have been found scattered deep in the woods by town authorities. They are confused by the mix of surgical precision and animalistic savagery found on the dead bodies. These corpses lead to the forming of the local legend of the Werewolf of Allariz. Meanwhile a travelling soap salesman named Manuel Romasanta (played by Julian Sands) rolls through the town. He is intelligent, charming and attractive. All the women love him. Also, of course, he's the brutal killer and uses the fat from the dead bodies to make his soap. And, oh yes, he's a werewolf! This film is based on the true life story of the actual Manuel Blanco Romasanta, a travelling vendor who killed thirteen people and was put on trial in 1852. He avoided capital punishment by claiming he was a werewolf.
