What About Bob? is a 1991 comedy directed by Frank Oz. In the film, Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss) is a smug, successful psychiatrist. He has written a book that promises to bring him fame and fortune. To celebrate, he is planning a month-long family vacation to England with his wife, Fay (Julie Hagerty) and his children, Anna (Kathryn Erbe) and Siggy (Charlie Korsmo). Before leaving on vacation, Dr. Marvin accepts a patient, Bob (Bill Murray), from a colleague, the case seems simple and the psychiatrist takes on the case without much thought. Bob is a man who is afraid to leave his house, emotionally unstable and very clingy. Anxious to start his vacation Dr. Marvin blows Bob off, Bob, not understanding the insult, thinks the doctor has cured him of all his mental health issues. He is so overwhelmed with gratitude that he decides he must become a bigger part of Dr. Marvin's life, whether he wants him to or not.
