White Hunter, Black Heart is a 1990 adventure drama directed by Clint Eastwood. The film is based on a novel by Peter Viertel, who also co-wrote the screenplay. John Wilson (Clint Eastwood) is a renowned film director, but he is always pushing himself to greater heights of achievement. While on set in Africa for his next major film, Wilson becomes fascinated by the idea of hunting elephants. Although he recognizes the danger and the cruelty of killing off the majestic animals, Wilson's obsessive personality starts to take over and he cannot overcome his desire to kill a wild elephant for sport. The cast and crew members, who are also in Africa, try to talk the director out of the idea, watching the plans for the film slowly fall to pieces. Wilson is so obsessed with his plans of hunting that he completely neglects his duties as director. A young writer, Pete (Jeff Fahey), and Wilson's secretary, Miss Wilding (Charlotte Cornwell), try to stop Wilson before it is too late, but tragedy looms on the horizon.moreless
