White Man's Burden

Movie Summary

Director:
Desmond Nakano
Released:
1995
Rating:
R
White Man's Burden depicts an elite black race and a hard-pressed white race. The main character is Louis Pinnock (John Travolta). He assumes the role of a white factory worker who is an honest man, a caring father of two, and a loving husband to Marsha (Kelly Lynch). His marriage, though, is strained due to financial difficulties. Thaddeus Thomas (Harry Belafonte), a black rich man, is the CEO of the factory Louis works in. In an unexpected twist, Louis loses his job when he is mistaken for being a peeper. He then receives a torturous beating from black cops before being evicted from his home. His cry for justice to the company's CEO ends up futile. In a desperate attempt to save himself and his family, he acquires a gun and kidnaps the CEO. He then gives him a tour of his world in the ghettos, which greatly contradicts the CEO's elegant and sumptuous life.
