White Sands is a 1992 dramatic thriller directed by Roger Donaldson. Ray Dolezal (Willem Dafoe) is a sheriff in a small and usually uneventful New Mexican town. When he becomes involved in a case with a mysterious corpse and a suitcase filled with $500,000, Ray thinks his life has finally gained some excitement. Through a little detective work, Ray and his fellow officers discover that the dead man had a name: Bob Spenser. Ray decides that he needs to pose as Spenser to truly get to the bottom of the case, but his plan goes horribly awry when he loses the money. At this point, Greg Meeker (Samuel L. Jackson), a FBI agent, steps in to explain part of the mystery. It seems that Spenser also used to be a FBI agent, dealing with dangerous criminals. Ray starts to regret his involvement, but he is already in too deep to back out. Posing as Spenser, Ray winds up in more danger than he ever wanted.moreless
