Whore is a 1991 film that chronicles the life of Liz (Theresa Russell), a Los Angeles prostitute attempting to escape her life and start over. The story begins with Liz working the downtown streets before flashing back to a time when she was picked up by a man in a van who in turn gang-raped her with his friends and left her for dead. She was then brought to the hospital by a Good Samaritan who paid her bill. Liz then talks directly the camera and tells the story of how she began her career. When she needed to escape an abusive relationship, Liz and her son ran away to a new town where she took a job as a waitress at a diner. When of the customers offers to pay her to have sex with him, her downward spiral begins. Eventually she is brought to Los Angeles by her pimp Blake (Benjamin Mouton). Trying to escape her own harsh reality, Liz befriends Rasta (Antonio Fargas) a street performer who cares for Liz. Also starring Frank Smith, Whore was neither a commercial or critical success upon it's intial release.moreless
