Who's Minding the Store? is a 1963 classic film directed by Frank Tashlin and starring Jerry Lewis as Norman Pfiffier, a clumsy but loveable young man. Norman is a poor and hapless fellow who has gone from job to job and currently works as a dog walker and pet sitter. He's engaged to the beautiful shop clerk Barbara Tuttle (Jill St. John) who is hiding a secret from her fiance. Barbara is actually the wealthy daughter of the owner of a lucrative department store chain. Barbara's mother, Phoebe Tuttle (Agnes Moorehead), disapproves of Barbara's engagement to a man with no money, so she arranges employment for Norman at one of her shops. He accepts, happy to work with the woman he intends to marry. Mrs. Tuttle has the store manager, Quimby (Ray Walston), give Norman increasingly difficult and demeaning tasks in the hopes that Barbara will leave him once she sees him for the blundering oaf he is. The result is a silly comedy of errors that promises laughter for the entire family.moreless
