Who's That Knocking at My Door? is a 1968 drama, directed by Martin Scorsese, that chronicles the prejudices one man confronts when he realizes his dream girl is not all that she is made out to be. J.R. (Harvey Keitel) is a typical, Catholic young man in New York to begin the film, enjoying nights out with his blue-collar friends and games which end in looking for 'broads'. His world is changed forever however, when he comes across a waspy beauty, simply known in the film as The Girl (Zina Bethune). Her sophistication and class sets her apart from his friends and other lovers he has met, and he decides not to sleep with her in an effort not to 'soil' her. His dreams become tainted one day when The Girl tells J.R. that there is no problem, because she unfortunately lost her virginity in a date rape. Based on his Catholic background, J.R. was hoping to marry a virgin and he is disgusted at the revelation. He begrudgingly decides to marry her despite what he sees as a flaw. The Girl does not see things the same way and makes a decision that leaves J.R. re-evaluating his morals and beliefs.moreless
