Wigstock: The Movie provides an in-depth look at annual drag music festival held in New York City's East Village. This Labor Day tradition welcomes tens of thousands of spectators each year who are witness to a variety of costumes, music and celebrity impersonators. This particular film includes behind the scenes footage from the 1993 and 1994 Wigstock festivals. Also included are interviews from the founder of the festival, Lady Bunny, as well as appearances from RuPaul, Lypsinka, Jackie Beat and Flotilla de Barge. Hear from everyone involved in the production from the founder herself, to the "Wigstock Dancers," all the way down to the cast and crew who worked to bring the production to life. Barry Shils directs this 1995 film that not only gives an insider look at the world of drag queens, but also speaks to the importance of alternative lifestyles and the people who stand up for their right to live them.
