Wild Is the Wind is a 1957 film that tells the story of a classic love triangle. Rancher Gino (Anthony Quinn) is happily married, until his wife passes away. The death crushes Gino, sending him into a lonely, depressed state. His depression is short-lived though, as he begins looking for another partner. Gino eyes his deceased wife's sister Gioia (Anna Magnani), but she yearns for the young ranch hand, Bene (Anthony Francoisa). What makes the situation even more complicated is that Bene is the son of Gino and Gioia's late sister. This causes things to get shaky when the family feuds over Gioia, threatening to tear the family apart. Will the older Gino win the heart of his sister-in-law, or will the younger, more attractive Bene steal the lovely Gioia's heart? George Cukor directs this drama whose title comes from the Johnny Mathis song of the same name. Anna Magnani was nominated for Best Actress at several film festivals for her role, and took home the Silver Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival.moreless
