Wild Side is the fascinating tale of a thirty-two year old transexual named Stephanie (Stephanie Michelini) who makes ends meet as a prostitute on the streets of Paris. When she receives a call from the hospital where her mother is in terminal care, Stephanie gathers up her two best friends - an Egyptian hustler named Djamel (Yasmine Belmadi), and army deserter-turned-restaurant-worker Mikhail (Edouard Nikitine), and sets out on a journey of bonding and self-discovery. Stephanie and her friends take care of her dying mother in the countryside, while taking some time to explore their complex relationship and discover how much they mean to each other. The exploration of their friendship will take Stephanie to many unexpected places - including her childhood, to the times when they first met. All in all, Wild Side is an unflinching look at a few people who exist on the margins of society, and how they deal with many of the same issues that we face every day.moreless
