Wind Chill is a psychological horror film about a young college girl that receives a ride from a fellow student at her school. After her exams have finished, a young college girl (Emily Blunt) forgoes both the plane ride and the train home, instead answering an ad for a ride share. She is offered the chance to ride along with a young guy (Ashton Holmes), and the two set out for the trip in his old clunker. With awkward conversations abounding, the girl begins to suspect something is amiss, as the guy seems to know an awful lot about her personally, and not much about the area where they are driving. But the girl's suspicions turn into full fledged fears when they suffer a freak accident on a deserted stretch of road. From strange occurrences to even more odd revelations from her travel companion, terror creeps in slowly, but when night sets in, the paralyzing cold could prove to be the most dangerous element yet. Gregory Jacobs directs this character driven story of terror and the unknown.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 60

    The New York Times

A moody, spooky tale, rendered with laudable economy.

  • 60

    Los Angeles Times

This isn't merely a horror film about things going bump in the night, but a study of the effects of desolation on our sense of personal consciousness.

  • 50

    Variety Justin Chang

This intermittently effective thriller serves as a rickety vehicle for its two perfectly cast leads, working better as a slow-thawing two-hander than as a chilly ghost story.
