Movie Summary

Director:
Carroll Ballard
Released:
1992
Rating:
PG-13
Wind, loosely based on the true story of the America's Cup races, is a movie about an American sailing team regaining their title of world champions from the Australians. Will Parker (Matthew Modine) is an overconfident sailor on the America's Cup sailing team. When he provides the spark plug that ends in a loss to the Australians, ending decades of dominance, he finds both his spot on the team, and his relationship with girlfriend Kate Bass (Jennifer Grey) is no more. Determined to win both back, he assembles a team to retake the title, and enlists Kate and her new boyfriend Joe Heiser (Stellan Skarsg'rd). Drama ensues as Will fights to win on all fronts, setting the stage for a dramatic finish to the race. The cinematography is breathtaking in this 1992 film from Oscar winning director Carroll Ballard. You'll surely be taken in by the tide of the high seas and even higher romance in this exciting and touching film.moreless
