Stanley R. Jaffe
Released:
1983
Rating:
PG
Released in 1983, Without a Trace is a dramatic film based on the Beth Gutcheon novel Still Missing. The story is loosely based on the 1982 disappearance of six-year-old Etan Patz on his walk to the school bus in the morning. In the film, Susan Selky (Kate Nelligan) walks her son Alex (Danny Corkill) to the corner outside of their Brooklyn brownstone before he continues down the street to wait for the bus. After a long day at work Selky realizes that Alex is late coming home from school. When she discovers that he never made it to school, she calls the police and a manhunt ensues. The case drags on when no clues are found and Alex's estranged father Graham (David Dukes) is cleared. After a series of false leads and unsubstantiated claims against the housekeeper (Keith McDermott), the police begin to convince Selky that Alex might be dead. Directed and produced by Stanley R. Jaffe, Without a Trace also stars Judd Hirsch and Stockard Channing.moreless
