Without Limits is a sports biopic about the life of legendary distance runner Steve Prefontaine. At first simply a kid who was not very good at football, Steve Prefontaine (Billy Crudup) would grow to be widely considered the best distance runner ever. The University of Oregon product was at one time the world record holder for every race from 2,000 to 10,000 meters; Prefontaine was known to jump head first into every race, wanting to lead from the starting gun to the finish line, much in the same way he lived life. From his relationships with Mary Marckx, (Monica Potter) the girl that he would not let say no, to coach Bill Bowerman, (Donald Sutherland) who tried without avail to convince the talented runner to pace himself, Prefontaine went for everything all the way. Without Limits examine the life of the unmatched athlete, from his early days at Oregon to the Munich Olympics to his tragic death in a car accident at the age of 24, getting to know him like only those close to him did. Academy award winner Robert Towne directs this moving film, about a young man who would stop at nothing.moreless
