Witness to Murder is the terrifying tale of Cheryl Draper (Barbara Stanwyck) who witnesses a young woman being strangled to death while looking out her bedroom window. She tries to report the crime, but the police conclude the middle-aged, single career woman was merely dreaming when they fail to find the body of the victim. Suave killer and former Nazi Albert Richter (George Sanders) stalks Draper and attempts to convince the police she is crazy even though the body of a murdered woman has been found in a nearby park. Police are unable to connect Richter with the victim and dismiss Draper's claims. Draper becomes more and more desperate to be believed but her insistence that she saw a murder leads police to have her committed to a mental institution. Fortunately, Police Lt. Lawrence Mathews (Gary Merrill) is sympathetic to her plight and helps to free her from the hospital. The two confront Richter who makes a surprising confession. The film noir tale was distributed in 1954 by United Artists.moreless
