Wizard of Oz is a silent movie from 1925. The film was directed by and stars Larry Semon as a farmhand disguised as a scarecrow. The toy maker (Larry Semon) makes a scarecrow doll for his granddaughter, who is curious to learn about the world of Oz. He tells her that after the princess of Oz was snatched from her crib, Prime Minister Kruel (Josef Swickard) masterminded the plot to get rid of the baby princess. Helping Kruel with his evil plan are Ambassador Wikked (Otto Lederer), Lady Vishuss (Virginia Pearson), and the Wizard (Charles Murray). At the same time, Dorothy (Dorothy Dwan) lives in Kansas with her Aunt and Uncle on a farm. When her birthday arrives, Dorothy gets blown into Oz by a tornado. Dorothy must find her way through Oz, while staying alive. The film also stars Oliver Hardy as Tin Woodman. Wizard of Oz is based on the novel, The Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum.moreless
