Wolves of Willoughby Chase is a 1989 drama directed by Stuart Orme that is based on the classic children's novel by Joan Aiken. In 19th century England, Sylvia (Aleks Darowska) lives with her Aunt Jane (Dilys Hamlet) after the untimely death of her parents. One winter, Aunt Jane sends Sylvia to stay with her cousin Bonnie (Emily Hudson) while Bonnie's parents are abroad. Bonnie and Sylvia quickly become friends and have many adventures, but their fun times are thwarted by Letitia Slighcarp (Stephanie Beacham), their new governess. Like the wild wolves roaming the countryside, Letitia proves herself to be vicious and dangerous. Unbeknownst to the rest of the staff, the evil governess has come to Willoughby manor with an ulterior motive. As Letitia and her right-hand man Mr. Grimshaw (Mel Smith) carry out an evil plan, it is up to Bonnie, Sylvia, and new friend Simon (Lynton Dearden) to stop them.
