Wrestling Ernest Hemingway is a drama about two retired men in their seventies who strike up an unlikely friendship. Frank (Richard Harris) is a hard-drinking and profane former sea captain who has retired to southern Florida. While there he meets Walter (Robert Duvall), a Cuban barber who mostly keeps to himself. Despite being polar opposites, the two men slowly become friends, mostly because neither has anyone else in their lives. They begin to meet almost every day at a coffee shop, where they talk with each other and flirt with a young waitress named Elaine (Sandra Bullock). At the same time, Frank tries to spark a romance with a woman named Georgia (Piper Laurie), while also dealing with his annoying neighbor, Helen (Shirley MacLaine). Eventually, the differences between Frank and Walter begin to aggravate them both and their friendship begins to fracture. Will the two men be able to repair it or will their differences prove to be more significant than their similarities?moreless
