Wristcutters: A Love Story is a 2006 comedy/fantasy directed by Goran Duki''. It is an adaptation of a short story by Etgar Keret entitled "Kneller's Happy Campers." After Zia's (Patrick Fugit) girlfriend Desiree (Leslie Bibb) breaks up with him, he decides to end his life by cutting his wrists in the bathroom of his apartment. When he wakes up, he discovers that he is stuck in a sad afterlife that is even worse than the life that he left behind. The desert landscape is ugly, his tiny apartment is falling apart, and all of the people around him are suicides like himself. One day, Zia learns that Desiree killed herself after he committed suicide, so she is stuck somewhere in limbo as well. With new friend Eugene (Shea Whigham) and beautiful hitchhiker Mikal (Shannyn Sossamon) along for the ride, Zia sets out on a journey to be reunited with his girlfriend.
