Wrong is Right is a 1982 comedy/drama written and directed by Richard Brooks and based on a novel by Charles McCarry. This satire/spoof is a look at the American news reporting system, covert agencies and the US political scene. The movie is based around world-traveling TV news reporter Patrick Hale (Sean Connery), who is on the trail of a terrorist that is trying to sell a couple of suitcase nuclear bombs to a Middle Eastern country. The US President (George Grizzard) is denying the existence of the bomb and his opponent for the next election is trying to buy it to discredit him and gain political favor. Meanwhile General Wombat (Robert Conrad) wants to bomb the entire Middle East to remove the threat. Patrick Hale runs around talking to Arab sheiks, covert agents, politicians and more trying to get his story, while keeping his ratings up and sensationalizing everything in true tabloid TV fashion. Supporting cast include Katherine Ross, G. D. Spradlin, John Saxon, Leslie Nielson, Robert Webber and Rosalind Cash.moreless
