Wyoming features a classic Western plot of cattleman versus squatters. It tells the story of Charles Alderson (Bill Elliott) and his struggle against settlers shortly after Wyoming enters the union. Alderson and his wife move to the Wyoming territory and become friends with Windy Gibson (George "Gabby" Hayes). Alderson's wife soon dies while giving birth to daughter Karen, who Alderson sends to Europe to be raised. While she's away, Alderson grows his wealth and becomes a powerful cattle baron, but much of the land he considers his is opened to homesteaders after Wyoming is granted statehood. The two factions are at odds with one another, but Alderson is counseled against using violence by Glenn Forrester (John Caroll). Cattle rustler Duke Lassiter (Albert Dekker) sees the clash between rival Alderson and the homesteaders as a chance to advance his own interests, stoking the flames until a murder spurs Alderson to hire a gang of outlaws and go to war with the settlers. The movie was released in 1947 and was directed by Joseph Kane.moreless
