X-Men Origins: Wolverine traces the rising of super-human mutant James Logan from military hero to government experiment. After Logan's father is killed, he finds out that he has a half-brother, Victor, who shares a similar genetic mutation. The two join an elite league of government agents called the X-Team. Six years later, Logan tires of the group's questionable use of their powers and deserts. Now living in Canada with his fiance, Kayla, Logan finds out through his old commanding officer, Stryker, that someone is killing off members of the team. Logan soon becomes a target and when his fiance is killed he seeks out Stryker, who offers up a powerful new weapon. Logan is infused with adamantium, an indestructible metal.

Kayla: (using her persuasive power on Stryker) Walk until your feet bleed. And then keep walking.
Sabretooth: (after saving Wolverine from being decapitated) Nobody kills you but me.
Sabretooth: Tell me something, Jimmy. Do you even know how to kill me?
Wolverine: I'm gonna cut your goddamned head off. See if that works.
Stryker: (speaking with Wolverine) I promise you two things. You will suffer more pain than any other man can endure, but you will have your revenge.
Wolverine: (Sabretooth has apparently just murdered Wolverine's girlfriend.) Why!
Sabretooth: Why? [laughs] You don't call, you don't write. How else am I supposed to get your attention?
Wade: You know I love this weapon more than any other thing in the whole wide world. Do you wanna know why?
Wade: It's memorable. Sure it's a little bulky, tough to get on a plane. You whip out a couple of swords at your ex-girlfriend's wedding, they will never, ever forget it.
Sabretooth: That's funny, Wade. I think you confuse me with someone who gives a shit.
