Yana's Friends is a light hearted film about an unexpected relationship between a young pregnant woman and her debaucherous roommate. In a small seaside Israeli town, in the midst of the 1991 Gulf War, a pregnant Yana (Evelyn Kaplun) and her husband rent a run down apartment, but within little time he leaves for Russia, saddling his young wife with all of their debts, and leaving her alone with their roommate Eli (Nir Levy), a wedding photographer set on conquering every last women in Israel. Offering to take pictures of her around town, Eli and Yana begin to form an unlikely bond, becoming closer amidst a growing level of danger. Eli and Yana's stories intertwine with those of landlord Rosa (Dalia Friedland), a stern and unforgiving woman, and Yitzhak (Moscu Alcalay), a former war hero who finds money can be made as a pity case on the street. Together their lives are weaved together as they learn about life and slowly defy their previous convention. Arik Kaplun directs this ten time Israeli Academy Award winning film, that miraculously and charmingly shows tells a story of finding love in the middle of constant rocket blasts and imminent threat of death.
