The film features two carnival type traveling sales men who are typically just ahead of the law. Yankee Davis (Douglas Fowley) and Shaggy "The Colonel" Hartley (Clems Bevans) are the two leads of this captivating film. Hartley pretends to be Davis' millionaire uncle, as this is their typical cover for scams. Everything changes when and Arizona congressman turns up dead. For the first time instead of fleeing the law these two join it for the first time. In this border town, Davis had fallen in love with the murdered man's beautiful daughter, Mary Mason (Joan Woodbury.) This is a movie of suspense, love and comedy all wrapped up into one. Yankee and The Colonel become figures to be identified with by the end of the film. Yankee Fakir is a western style mystery by director W. Lee Wilder. This film received favorable reviews and relative success during its debut in 1947.
