Yanks is a drama film that follows the lives of American soldiers stationed in England during World War II. The soldiers set up an army base in a town near Lancashire, where they are given the name "Yanks" by the British. One such soldier is Arizona native Matt Dyson (Richard Gere), who meets a British woman, Jean Moreton (Lisa Eichorn), and asks her to go the movies. Jean has a fianc''e who is overseas, so she initially declines Matt's offer. However, Matt becomes persistent and she eventually agrees to spend time with him. Meanwhile, John (William Devane) is a captain in the American Army who begins to spend time with a British woman, Helen (Vanessa Redgrave). They are both married, but with their spouses thousands of miles away, the two begin a passionate romance. Matt and John are given the news that a train will arrive to transport then to the South of England in preparation for D-Day. To find out what becomes of their relationships, watch Yanks.
