Year of the Dragon is an action packed thriller film created by Michael Cimino in 1985. The movie was made in an effort to study the long-term repercussions of the Vietnam war on racial views, stereotypes, and gang life in America. Year of the Dragon centers are two main characters. The first, Joey Tai (John Lone), is a brutal and ruthless hit man working for the Chinese mafia in New York City. He has great clout in his community, and everyone fears his wrath. The Chinese mafia has wrecked the city more havoc than it ever has before, and so the NYPD enlist Stanley White (Mickey Rourke) as the cop in charge of the capturing Mr. Tai. Stanley, however, has a deep hatred for Asians since he fought in the Vietnam War, and often deviates from the law in his pursuit of Tai. Since both Tai and Stanley are oblivious to the rules by which they must fight each other, things get bloody fast. Watch to find out if these opponents will ever reach a compromise.
